WHAT IF:

GREEN HOUSES USED:

Light Distribution Tubes illuminated with plasma lamps for the purpose of delivering a quantity and quality of light, without the heat, to grow tomatoes and lettuce. The example shown is for Freshwater Farms, CA, and uses Luxim STA40 Light Emitting Plasma lamps with PLYLIGHT 3.75” diameter LDTs.

PIG AND CHICKEN STABLES USED:

Light generated in flicker free plasma lamps distributed in PLYLIGHT LDTs. This would benefit the animals, reduces cooling costs, and reduce maintenance in these structures.

THE LOWLINE, NYC USED:

PLYLIGHT 's SOLARMERSION™ patented technology can collect and redirect sunlight from high above Delancy Street and deliver that light through the air as a collimated beam of light into clear large diameter tubes to provide a sun shower in the underground park.  It will provide a uniform shower of sunlight all day long.

HELIOSTATS USED:

Flat mirrors to reflect non concentrated sunlight into a room below or onto fiber optic bundles for delivery of sunlight via fibers to remote light fixtures.

REFLECTORS USED:

A secondary parabolic reflector to collect otherwise stray light in order to make a very efficient collimated beam of artificial light. More efficient collection and collimation of light reduces the number of fixtures needed and the overall energy cost.  The example shows a 700 watt short arc MH bulb in the compound reflector.
